A whisper travels on the breeze, a tale spun from caramel lies and acrimonious truths. It speaks of a river, its waters glinting with the temptation of ecstasy. But within its depths lurks a shadow, a dangerous lure that promises glory at the cost of morals. They say those who stumble in its current are forever consumed by the river's power, their lives forever transformed into a desolate melody.
The Great Molasses Flood
On January 15th, 1919, Boston experienced a disaster unlike any other. A massive tank filled with that thick sweet nectar burst open in the city's North End, unleashing a wave of sticky sweetness that swept through the streets like a tsunami. The flood, soaring to 25 feet in some areas, was devastating. Homes and businesses crumbled under the weight of the treacherous goo.
The aftermath was grim. Twenty-one people lost their lives, and many more sustained wounds. The flood also caused ruin to property, leaving a trail of sticky residue in its wake.
